Our Story: part 1
Mercy Hill Church began in 1999 as a small, young-adult Bible study in the home of Arthur and Braunda Butt and has since developed into a vibrant faith community with a clear mission and purpose. In 2003, The Bridge Community Church was officially established, later becoming Manchester Vineyard Community Church in 2007 after adopting into the Vineyard movement, and then Mercy Hill Church in 2023

Our Story: part 2

Mercy Hill Church is committed to serving the city of Manchester and the surrounding region. In 2019, after three years of prayerful discernment, leadership and care of the church transitioned from founding pastor Arthur Butt and his wife, Braunda to Andrew and Jessica Locke, during which time the church also moved to its current location on Pine Street. In 2023, the church embraced a new season with the name Mercy Hill Church, continuing its passion to follow Jesus, serve Manchester and beyond, and live out its calling to see the love, presence, and power of God’s Kingdom transform individuals, families, and communities through the declaration and demonstration of the gospel to the glory of Jesus Christ and for the sake of his Kingdom.
What We Believe
- There is one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- We were all created to have a dynamic relationship with God.
- Going our own way eternally separates us from our Creator.
- Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place for our sins and was resurrected from the grave in victory over Satan, sin, and death.
- Our separation from God is healed only through faith in Jesus Christ.
- God’s Kingdom is present in our midst through the Holy Spirit, to empower, heal, and deliver.
- The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are God-inspired and without error in their original form.
Our Vision
We are a church that desires to:
see the love, presence and power of God
transform the people of Manchester
through the preaching and demonstration of the gospel
to the glory of Jesus Christ, for the sake of his Kingdom,
and for the joy of all people.
Our Mission
Our Mission is expressed through and comprised by five components:

In a word, our mission is the same mission Jesus gave his original followers: Make Disciples. C.L.E.A.R. is how we do it.
Our Story Part 3
At the end of 2025, Mercy Hill Church concluded its status as a member church in the Vineyard movement and entered a period of seeking and discernment to discover what comes next. It’s an unfinished story, as everyone’s story is, and we remain challenged by and committed to following Jesus wherever he may lead…
…to be continued.
